Dear Parents and Guardians,  

My name is Guiying (Grace) Liang and I would like to welcome your child to our Chinese Language and Culture class!

First, please allow me to introduce myself. I have more than 10 years of teaching and training experience in public and private schools both in China and America. My four years of university while earning my teaching degree built up solid core skills and the special training in the World Language Certificate program at EMU gave me the newest foreign language teaching methods and techniques.

Currently we offer Chinese 1 at Page Middle School and LHS, also level 2 and 3 at LHS. Our secondary curriculum introduces students to the Chinese language and culture & prepares them for the Michigan high school graduation requirement. Students engage in realistic interactions to become familiar with life in China and other Asian countries. Information into cultural practices, products and perspectives will be explored guiding students to discover non-judgmental differences and similarities between their own culture and other cultures. To develop proficiencies in listening, speaking, reading and writing, students will be expected to actively communicate about familiar topics, focusing on themselves, their families, school and friends, their interests and hobbies. They are going to learn about Chinese songs, games, making traditional Chinese food and celebrating Chinese traditional holidays. I am certain the students will have a lot of fun and enjoy my class!
