Hello everyone! We’re well into the school year now and things are busy as usual here at Lamphere Center. I wanted to update everyone on our recent and upcoming activities.
We’ve had a couple of Community Based Instruction (CBI) outings to the bowling alley. These trips allow our students to practice their communication skills in a functional but fun manner in the community. We will also do our annual holiday shopping trip to allow the students to buy gifts for family and friends if they would like to do so. As with all of our CBI activities, specific skills are targeted, such as communication, money skills, and social skills. More information will be coming home about this event.
Since our Lamphere Center Idol coordinator, Jessica Shuler, will be out on maternity leave after Christmas, we are holding Lamphere Idol early this year. The students have already begun practicing. The date for the performance itself is Friday, December 11 in the afternoon. Look for more information on this as the date approaches. It’s always an exciting event for the participants and audience alike.
Conferences will be held at Lamphere Center on Monday, November 23 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, November 24 from 1:00-3:00 and 6:00-8:00. Hope to see you then!
