A favorite after school activity for students of all ages, Cooking Club, offered by Katie McConkie - Lamphere's Food Service Director, helps students learn how to make healthy snacks and choices every day, teaches use of tools and safety in the kitchen and gives everyone a chance to try new foods that they may have never tried before. Hiller Elementary students enjoyed cooking club in March. Many comments were heard from students that truly offered an explanation of just how much they enjoyed the event. "My mom is going to go crazy when I tell her I love spinach," said one student after making and tasting a spinach and cheese roll up. "My plate looks so pretty and I can just tell it's going to be delicious," said another after visiting all the stations an arranging her choices on her plate. "I can't wait to make my mom some special lady bug treats, she is going to love them." "What? we're making a car out of food? How crazy is this? It looks so cool I want to keep it, but I'm going to eat it to see what all the stuff tastes like." "We get to dip our own strawberries in chocolate? I love those strawberries and now I know how to make them."
